WHO ARE ACANTHURUS?
Donna Bullock founded Acanthurus Ltd in 2010 to provide operational risk and security consultancy services to insurance underwriters and brokers and to provide value added services for their clients.
Donna is also a Consultant Security Advisor to the Arts Council England working in support of the National Security Advisor to conduct security and risk assessments of cultural institutions intending to use the Government Indemnity Scheme (GIS) for loans or borrow objects from national collections.
An expert in security risk management, she has previously spent over 25 years in law enforcement and in diverse operational and strategic roles across multiple business sectors. Her success in all of these roles has depended on working in partnership and building productive relationships with a wide range of people and often with conflicting objectives.
LIFE BEFORE ACANTHURUS.
Prior to establishing Acanthurus, Donna worked with Graff Diamonds following the well publicised armed robbery on Old Bond Street in August 2009 where she was accountable for their security worldwide. After developing a comprehensive suite of security protocols and defining the organisational structure for a new in house Security team, she recruited, trained and deployed the team in just 4 months in a seamless transition from the third party incumbent.
Donna started her career in the Royal Military Police, serving in the UK (including Northern Ireland), Saudi Arabia and Germany in a number of roles including the investigation of crime and undercover drugs operations. She later joined the Special Investigation Branch where she was involved in the investigation of serious and complex crimes including murder, serious sexual assaults, high value theft and fraud.
After leaving the military Donna had a number of roles at Heathrow Airport. These included Retail Loss Prevention Manager for World Duty Free and Head of Security for Terminal 5 during the construction phase of the project. In April 2006, just before the liquid bomb plot of August that year, Donna was appointed to the role of Head of Airport Security. A Director level role, this involved working closely with Government and law enforcement agencies to ensure an integrated approach to security strategy, delivery and governance. This role also involved functional leadership and training of over 4,000 Security personnel and technical guardianship of a complex suite of security standards.
Donna is a Registered Independent Security Consultant with the Association of Security Consultants, a member of the Security Institute and the Association of Insurance Surveyors.
